Asham comes over from the dark side

Monday, July 7, 2008

The Flyers announced today that they have signed forward Arron Asham, formerly of the New Jersey Devils, to a multi-year contract.  Asham is a depth player who should add some grit on the third or fourth line next season.

To highlight some past encounters between Asham and the Flyers –

Mike Richards vs. Arrin Asham, November 2005

Mike Richards vs. Arrin Asham, September 2006

Darren Reid vs. Arrin Asham, February 2007

Riley Cote vs. Arrin Asham, September 2007

Riley Cote vs. Arrin Asham, November 2007

Let’s just say Asham can hold his own in a scuffle.  Hopefully he can hold his own while the puck is in play as well.

Shouldn’t the Holmgren extension have merited a mention on your blog?
Or have you just not had a chance to post since then?

Just haven’t had a chance to post on it yet. I’m hoping to have time this evening to put a little analysis into it. I’m trying to avoid just posting announcements since those are pretty widely available.

    I figured as much.

Yeah, announcements are extremely easy to find all over the place.
I actually experimented with them for a short while, but it just doesn’t feel right unless I add my opinion to the post..
