Toronto vs. Boston – BRUINS

New Jersey vs. NY Rangers – As a Flyers fan, there’s no way I can cheer for either team.  On the one hand, I’d like to see the Devils continue their slump; on the other, I want the Rangers to stay within striking distance.  Maybe I’ll just hope it ends in regulation, keeping it a 2-point game.  – RANGERS

Buffalo vs. Ottawa – Contrary to the reaction of many Buffalo fans, the Sabres aren’t as far out as one would think.  They have a game in hand on Washington.  A win tonight brings them a point behind the Caps and only 3 points behind the Bruins.  Should Boston lose, the door is definitely still open for Buffalo to catch up.  A long shot, yes.  But the beauty of hockey is that it’s anyone’s game for the taking.  – SABRES

NY Islanders vs. Pittsburgh – The Penguins lost the last game because they were cocky.  They assumed that the weak Islanders playing the second night in row would crumble easily.  Apparently they didn’t watch Wade Dubielewicz in last year’s stretch run.  I think Pittsburgh comes back with a win.  – PENGUINS

Washington vs. Tampa Bay – Should Toronto play spoiler in Boston tonight and Washington wins, the Caps would tie the Bruins in points.  From a media perspective, I think the NHL needs Ovechkin to make the playoffs.  That story – leading goal scorer, youth movement, turnaround Bruce Boudreau – is the kind that might even get ESPN to cover hockey.  – CAPITALS

Atlanta vs. Florida – PANTHERS

Dallas vs. San Jose – SHARKS

Phoenix vs. Los Angeles – Phoenix looked incredibly calm and controlled against San Jose on Tuesday.  I was particularly impressed by their puck movement coming out of the zone.  They actually made the Sharks – a fantastic team on a great run – look sloppy and undisciplined.  Phoenix could be quite dangerous next year.  – COYOTES

    re: Toronto @ BOSTON

Everytime this season, when they’ve been expected to cash in their chips, lay down and die, the Maple Leafs have summoned from the depths an almost ‘miraculous’ effort – usually on the road – to keep alive their infinitesimally small hope to qualify for the post-season tournament.

Should the Bruins win tonight’s game in regulation time … it will exterminate Toronto from the playoff landscape this year.

My Call: The Leafs will (somehow?) win the game outright. 🙂

From your post to God’s ears – keep Boston as far behind the Flyers as possible!

That’s hilarious … except that something tells me ‘the Big Guy’ – despite his overt sense of humour – doesn’t care much for what goes on … ‘On Frozen Pond’ … unlike yuks like us.

    Period 1 … BOS 1, Tor 0 (17:30)

Yeah, God was not too merciful this evening on hockey fans outside Boston. Maybe they’re better with Kobasew and Savard out of the lineup . . . kind of like the Crosbyless Penguins. Except less talented.
