Game Predictions 3/7/2008

2008 March 7

Tampa Bay vs. New Jersey – I have seen Vinny Lecavalier make short work of the Flyers defense on numerous occasions.  So I can honestly say I was surprised at how poorly he played in Philadelphia last night – hovering about the perimeter, rarely (if ever) using his body to establish physical presence, and taking 3, almost 4, bad penalties.  Neither he nor Martin St. Louis have been scoring lately, and that hurts this one line team.  Not a good prognosis for facing the best goaltender in the east.  – DEVILS

Edmonton vs. ColumbusRick Nash is probably the most underrated player in the National Hockey League.  His name is never mentioned among the superstars of this league; his team, the only one never to have made an appearance in the playoffs, is rarely featured on national broadcasts; he hardly ever gets coverage on NHL.com’s main page.  But every time the All-Star game rolls around, Nash delivers a performance head and shoulders above everyone else present.  It’s possible that it’s his mountain man appearance that diminishes his marketability.  But then, Ovechkin has gotten plenty of face time.  If only they could find Nash a linemate . . .  - OILERS

Minnesota vs. Atlanta - WILD

San Jose vs. Chicago – Chicago is on fire with Toews back in the lineup.  But I think Brian Campbell may just have a few tricks that the rookies have yet to encounter.  – SHARKS

Nashville vs. Calgary – PREDATORS

Thanks for the link-up! I think Ovie is by far the best player in the league right now.

Agreed. Ovechkin brings so much skill and pure joy to the game – he’s worth watching for sure.
